What’s In A Candle Fragrance Oil

As all candle makers quickly discover, not all fragrance oils are created equal. This means that candle fragrance oils are of different strengths and behave differently from each other. Scents Soaps and Candles have developed our own range of Scented Living fragrance oils and now have over 200 different fragrances for candles for you to choose from.

Scented Living fragrance oils are each carefully tested and rated to see how each oil performs in different candle waxes. A lot of time and effort is spent to find the best fragrances to perform in soy wax as this is the hardest wax to get a good fragrance throw.

We then test each fragrance oil to see how it performs in other natural waxes and also paraffin wax. Burn tests are then carried out on each candle and when we are happy with their performance we will bring them into production and make them available to our customers. This means that before we sell a new fragrance oil it will have undergone several hours of testing in our Scents Soaps and Candles Development lab.

Our fragrance oils are not just for candles and wax melts. All of our fragrance oils are also formulated to work in reed diffusers and some can also be used in bath and body products. Each fragrance oil that we sell has all of the relevant documentation to show you what percentage can be used in various applications.

Scented Living fragrance oils are 100% oil - we never dilute them like many other companies. As a result each has a strong concentrated scent, that gives off a great fragrance throw when burnt in a candle or a wax melt.

However it MUST be remembered that each fragrance oil will perform differently from wax to wax and also from wick to wick. That is why it is so important to test each fragrance oil before you go into full production. Each oil will perform differently at different percentages and that is all part of the fun of candle making - you must test test and test again before you end up with the perfect candle.

Do not confuse fragrance oils with essential oils. Scents Soaps and Candles also sell Le Sol essential oils. An essential oil is a pure oil that is full of aroma compounds that are extracted from the leaves, seeds, flowers, stems, roots or bark of plants. This extraction method is done by expression, extraction or distillation. Each essential oil then has the scent or essence of the plant that it was derived from. Le Sol has a great range of essential oils that can be used in candles, body products and diffusers.
