How to Make Your Own Soap Using Crystal SLS Free Melt and Pour Base
To create your own soap, you will need the following items:
· Crystal SLS Free Melt and Pour Soap Base
· Fragrance oil of choice
· ZENICOLOR soap colourant
· A soap mould
· A knife or soap cutter
· Microwave/Double Boiler
STEP ONE – OPEN: Simply open up your SLS Free soap packaging and remove the soap.
STEP TWO – CUT: Cut your crystal SLS Free melt and pour soap base into smaller cubes. This will help with any handling of the soap and allow it to melt at a more even temperature.
STEP THREE – MELT: Gradually heat your soap on a low setting to allow the soap to melt evenly. It is important to not let the soap boil and burn. If you are choosing to melt your soap in the microwave, make sure you place the soap in a microwave-safe container. It is recommended that you microwave it in short increments and keep checking it until it has melted.
STEP FOUR – COLOUR: Now that your soap has melted you can now add your ZENICOLOR soap colourant of choice to your soap. The depth of the colour will vary based on the amount of colourant you add.
STEP FIVE – FRAGRANCE: Now add your fragrance oil. Add 2% fragrance oil to your soap and gently stir to ensure that your fragrance and colour are evenly distributed amongst the soap base. If you would like your fragrance to be stronger, 3% is the maximum recommended amount in soap rinse-off products.
STEP SIX – POUR: Carefully pour your SLS Free soap base into your mould of choice. Don’t wait too long to pour your soap as a skin will begin to form on it and this will affect the appearance of your finished product. If you do find a skin forming carefully reheat your soap base for a few seconds in the microwave. Don’t heat it for too long as you may cause some of the fragrance to evaporate.
STEP SEVEN– SET: Allow your soaps to set for a minimum of 6 hours. Do not touch them until they have fully hardened.
STEP EIGHT – DEMOULD: Once your soaps have fully set you can remove them from your mould and cut them into the sizes you would like them to be. Your soaps are now ready to be used.
