Paraffin wax is a very popular candle wax that burns cleanly and has an excellent scent throw. It is white coloured wax made from paraffin and candle makers like to use it because it is so easy to make candles with. Paraffin wax is often referred to as mineral wax and it is by far the most popular wax used for candle making. One of the biggest advantages of using paraffin wax for candle making is that it is very easy to use. It is ideal for making candles with fragrances as mineral waxes can use larger quantities of scents without the burn quality being adversely affected. The scent throw is regarded to be much better in a paraffin wax as the wax burns faster than that of vegetable wax. 

Mineral waxes are also easier to wick than vegetable waxes. With vegetable waxes if you get the wicking wrong you may run into trouble burning the candle and may find big melt pools. It is widely accepted that paraffin wax is much easier to use for candle making as you do not have to be as precise when wicking and also working out how much fragrance to use.
